FOUR OF WANDS: We like to Par-taaay! 🥳

CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES!

Let's gooooooo! Not a whole heck of a lot of ambiguity here, y'all! If the Queen of Wands were to walk into the party, the Four of Wands Tarot card tells us where her car is going to pull up. It's time to party, my dears. Long story short, the Four of Wands means that somehow, somewhere you are getting ready to experience some happiness and celebrate victory and success in community. And the celebration is the key here, because the Four of Wands Tarot card signals an opportunity for growth and progress individually through connection to your favorite family members and communities!

In this post we’ll explore all of the fun things to expect when the Four of Wands card appears during a reading-including the numerology, what the card means for family harmony (in the short term, anyway) as well as a few ways and opportunities to create connection with others who share your interests or beliefs, as well as what this particularly hopeful and very practical Tarot card message means for survivors of intimate partner violence and abuse.

The part where you get excited! 😆

The Four of Wands card means that you're on the right track and that NOW is the time to take advantage of any and every opportunity for growth and progress individually by connecting to your favorite community by celebrating with them. Doesn't matter how large (party, concert, convention or festival) or how small (remember Zoom-N-Sip, anyone?) The directive here is to connect with your people!

And the Tarot and the Universe aren't necessarily picky about how you define who and what your community is comprised of. It can originate from the hobbies you love and your friends from childhood or college, to your the people that share your faith, spiritual practices or lifestyle choices. Social media has made connecting with likeminded individuals so much easier than it use to be and Lord knows we got plenty of practice connecting and celebrating via Zoom! The Four of Wands is also a gentle portent that celebration and family harmony during holiday gatherings and other times when we gather with friends and loved ones may be peaceful and provide some very real moments to experience well earned merriment.

4 NUMBER NERDS 🤓🧮

Numerologically, the number FOUR connotes stability and the establishment of a solid, steady foundation. It represents the four perfectly equal sides of a square and the strong, reliable four legs of a "stable table." The special homecoming that we observe in the Four of Wands card imagery emphasizes how gatherings of family and friends are a symbolic return to our foundations.

PARTY OF ONE? 🙋🏽‍♀️

Not particularly interested in hanging with the parentals or siblings? No worries, you can participate in your favorite solo actives. And if you're looking for a new tribe, consider connecting online with people who share your interests! Us witchy hoodoo types are particularly good at doing this. When I felt most isolated during the shutdown, the amazing teachers student and practitioners that I met during lockdown in my favorite Tarot, metaphysical and entrepreneurial communities in 2019 saved me! (Looking at you, Scarlet Sage, Holisticism and Biddy Tarot Community) Just reading the same books, watching movies, listening to podcasts or discussing similar topics and then googling said topics in your location can lead you to meet new people that you would otherwise never run into.

🔥🔥 FIRE UP, Witches! 🔥🔥

The suit of Wands in the Tarot deck are connected to my favorite element: Fire. The flaming wands in Tarot's Suit of Wands represents passion, life-force energy and the awesome power of creation. And man, do I love to find new, exciting (and fire safe) ways to celebrate with the element fire! If this Tarot comes up in a reading, challenge yourself to bring a little heat into your celebration! Consider hosting a bonfire celebration or going to see a band with a show and dancers that has a lot of energy. Hell, you can always get Netflix going and watch The Queen Bey's Homecoming. To celebrate quietly at home with fire you can try lighting candles with your friends or just cozying up by your own fireplace or woodburning stove.

💃🏽 Me & the Four of Wands

In my own private Four of Wands moments, I love to celebrate the element of fire with dance-especially if it's diasporic dance (which means it's roots tie directly back to Africa) like Samba and Salsa. To me, no movements or music has more celebration, passion and power! I've been a student of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban dance for years and I was fortunate enough to visit watch the beautiful passistas at Salguiero, Escola de Samba a few Christmases ago! Samba schools are an excellent example of magical power that's generated when the community gathers together in collective celebration! So when all else fails, I find a good Batucada channel on Sonos to practice my Samba around the kitchen.

The Four of Wands: A Message for Survivors 💜

If you are living in an abusive relationship, please know that there are people who are ready to connect, if only just listen to your story or to help you take action to get out safely without further abuse. I know that it can be difficult to even contemplate reenaging with community when suffering abuse, especially if your abuser was successful (and often are, sadly) in isolating you from the people and community that you loves. But I promise, all your old friends, family and community are waiting for you to reconnect with them.

A few ways to reach out may be to text someone you trust. If it is safe for you, go to a community celebration/event or meet up with old friends online. You can do this! I know it is scary, but heaingl begins with one small, simple spark 🎇 of an act. Remember that the element of fire invites you to take action! Need help making that first step? Just call or text the National Domestic Violence Hotline and you'll find crisis counselors (just like me!) who are trained and ready to be your community in a crisis. They're here to help you!
